After graduating with a B.A. (Hons) in Political Philosophy and French from McGill University, Yasmine then attended the University of British Columbia for her law degree.  She was a practicing attorney in British Columbia, Canada from 1992 and then moved to California and became a licensed attorney in 1998.  She was certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization as a Family Law Specialist in 2008.  She is one of only 1600 Fellows of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, an organization comprised of the nation’s leading family law practitioners.  She has been recognized as a California Super Lawyer every year since 2010 and was further honored as one of the top 100 lawyers in Northern California and one of its top 50 female lawyers.  

Yasmine’s practice ranges from high asset cases to pro bono work primarily done through her long association with the Justice and Diversity Center of the Bar Association of San Francisco.  She has received their annual award for pro bono contributions for many years and was the recipient of the James P. Preovolos Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Services in Family Law in 2006 and 2013.  She has also received the Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services from the State Bar and in 2024 received the San Francisco Superior Court Settlement Officer of the Year award from the Family Law Division.

Over the course of her career, she has been actively involved in numerous committees and organizations in the field of family law.  Locally, she was recognized for her eleven years of service as the Education Chair of the Family Law Section of the Bar Association of San Francisco.  She has been a Task Force Committee Member of the Sargent Shriver Custody Project (AB590) since 2011 and regularly assists the San Francisco Court on a volunteer basis as an Attorney of the Day and as a Settlement Officer.   She was also an appointed member of the San Francisco Bar’s Judiciary Committee for a three-year period.

Statewide, she was nominated to the Family Law Executive Committee of the State Bar of California, culminating in her role as the Legislative Chair of the Executive Committee.  She currently serves as the Chair of the Pro Bono Committee for the Northern California branch of the AAML.  Nationwide, she was appointed to an ad hoc task force for the AAML (Strategic Plan Implementation), to look at the future of providing legal services and to chart a path forward.  She also served as the Chair of the AAML Bookstore Committee for a number of years and was involved not only in the updating of a number of publications but also in the creation of a new one “Financial Issues in Divorce.”  She has presented on a number of topics, including  Family Law Basics; Alternatives to Dissolution; Pro Bono Representation in Low-Income Family Law Cases; Family Law Issues during the Pandemic; Disaster Training, and Effective Civil Litigation. Along with a colleague, she currently runs a monthly meeting for a group of new lawyer mentees.

Yasmine focuses on the needs of each individual client and maintains an environment of cultural sensitivity.  She provides clarity, confidence, and peace of mind to her clients through a recognition that family law matters require not only legal expertise but also a sensitive, personalized approach that prioritizes clients’ emotional and financial well-being.  When children are involved, she places them at the center of the legal process and prioritizes decision-making that focuses on their best interests.
